Hi, I’m Joseph.
I’m a web developer, orginally from Christchurch, New Zealand. Formally working for Pegasus Health. I have moved to London to develop myself, experience life on the other side of the world, and continue to develop my career.
I have experience developing and managing content-heavy sites, such as Pegasus Health’s company site, as well as over 50 wordpress sites for clients of Pegasus Health.
My Technical Skills
In my previous role, I worked with many different CMS solutions, including CraftCMS and Wordpress. I developed features for these websites, as well as maintaining these site with constant security scans, updating and patching. I am comfortable with many different frontend technologies, using frameworks such as Vue and React, and styling using TailwindCSS.
As well as managing these site, I have expertise in managing the infrastruture that runs them. I led a project to transition a site from a traditonal web server, to a cloud-native solution, using AWS fargate and Docker containers. I used Terraform to manage the infrastructure, which ensured that the infrasturcture was declartive and could be managed by anyone else in the team.
Another aspect of my job was managing web servers. I have a lot of experience with Apache Web Server, as well as Nginx, not to mention a high level of familiarity with the Linux operating system in general, primarily through Ubuntu Server 22.04.
My Non-technical Skills
I consider myself to be a highly adaptable person, who can be trusted to complete a wide range of tasks, to a high degree of professionalism. From meeting with stakeholders to discuss desired changes and suggest improvements, to writing documentation for other developers and end-users, to meeting with the CTO and other managers to get changover requests approved, I am able to adapt to many differnt situations I am faced with.
As well as this, I am able to work well independently. I am used to being the only developer in a team, and can be trusted to work on my own to come up with different options, and report back to the team with solutions that we can discuss further. In my previous role, I led a project to transition the hosting of the company site to a cloud-native solution. I was the sole developer on this project, and I worked diligently to ensure that the project came in on time, with minimal blockers, and a plan to transition the site with minimal disruption to the users of the site.
What Next?
I am looking for a role that continues to develop what I am good at: managing content-heavy sites, and ensuring the underlying infrastructure is fit for purpose. I am interested in DevOps, as well as general web development, and I hope to expand my skills in these areas.
